Recruiting Rundown

Girls

Adara Christensen - BYU

Adara Christensen is one of the top pole vaulters in the country.  She had a dominant indoor season where she vaulted a Personal Best of 12-11.50.  Unfortunately for Christensen, we saw her season season end unexpectedly when she tore her ACL in New York as she was performing at the armory.  Christensen already shares the State record of 11-11.75  with Hannah Stetler of Bingham. This record was set last year at the State meet and this year Christen had hoped to raise that mark to over 13 feet!  But for now her 12-11.50 will have to do as the unofficial State record seeing how the mark was made in the indoor season. Adara has committed to further her academics and athletics at BYU which is already one of the greatest Track & Field programs in the Country.

Skye Jeppson - UVU
Skye Jeppson was one of the key runners for the Pleasant Grove girls when they won the 6A Cross Country team title.  Jeppson finished 3rd on her team, 4th overall with a time of 18:49.70 which qualifies her for a spot on the all-time XC list. Jeppson will be joining an up and coming UVU squad who finished second in result of a tie breaker, at the 2017 WAC Conference.

Mazzie Melaney - UVU
Mazzie Melaney was the leader of the Fremont women and she was one of the top XC runners of the 2017 season.  Melaney finished 7th in the Girls 6A race in a time of 18:26.20, also qualifying for the All-Time XC list.  Mazzie joins a great recruiting for the wolverines who have picked up 5 female distance runners as of now.

Haley Tanne - SUU

Haley Tanne is one of the best XC/Track recruits for the class of 2018.  Tanne is also a pretty good Steeplechase runner seeing how she was the winner of the Great Southwest Classic in a time of 7:13.00. Haley led her team to the Girls 6A State Title by finishing 3rd overall in the race.  Haley ran a time of 18:12.10 and she later went on to run amazing times at NXR and Footlocker West.  Tanne has had a great start to the Outdoor season and she'll be looking to take her first individual state title seeing how she is one of the top returners in the 1600m and 800m.

Taylor Viertel - UVU

Taylor Viertel and teammate Madison Moffit were one of the greatest duos the state had for their senior year.  Viertel has been hitting the track hard and has already run a PR in the 1600m which she did at Pine View in a 5:12.08.  Taylor will be the third athlete who plans on signing this this upcoming week and will be joining UVU who had the WAC Freshman of the year Hannah Branch last XC season.

Allie Warner - BYU

Allie Warner was one of Mountain View's top runners and key scorers for winning the 4A First State Title.  Allie had a great XC season where she ran a PR in every event she did and she looks to finish out her senior year of track with all PRs and maybe an individual state title.  Warner is one of the top returners for the 800m and she is looking to finish on top of the podium after finishing 3rd her sophomore year and 4th her Junior year.  Allie is joining a great program in BYU and she will be replacing her sister Ashleigh Warner who will be graduating at the end of this year.

Camille Winterton - Boise

Camille Winterton was the last of our 3 girls who went to a national meet to commit to a school.  Winterton performed well all throughout the XC season but really excelled in the end when she finished 3rd at the State meet,  and 3rd in the Footlocker West Region to qualify for FL Nationals.  Winterton then sat out the entire Indoor season but then made her outdoor debut down in Pine View where she Ran new PRs in the 1600m (5:03.08) and the 3200m (10:53.32).  Both of which these times were ran at altitude!  Camille hasn't had a race since then but you can bet she'll be back to fight for an individual state title after leading her team to victory in the 5A Girls State XC Race!  Winterton is a nice addition to a great Boise team who already has two of the top distance athletes in the country in Allie Ostrander and Brenna Peloquin.
