Utah Athletes Competing at New Balance Nationals!

Ryan Raff

Ryan Raff has been tearing it up on the distance side of things this season in Utah as he currently owns the top 3200m time in Utah.  He ran away from the field at Simplot to win in a time of 9:04.94 which is currently the second fastest time in the country.  He will be racing in the 2 mile and he is a legit contender to the throne.  One of the biggest advantages Raff will have over the field is the altitude change.  Not a lot of people understand how the altitude in Utah really effects the times and that's why we often to appear out of the conversation.  Another factor to take into consideration is that when he ran  the 9:04 at Simplot, he ran about 80-90% of it solo.  He blew away everybody in that finals and had he had someone ahead of him or next to him.  He definitely could have dropped under 9 minutes.  The two mile should be considered Ryan's best event in track because he has had so much success in running it. He has only run under 9 minutes once which was at sea level in 8:58 at Arcadia.  In that same season, Raff did something that no one else in the country has ever done and that was beat Casey Clinger at Altitude in the 3200m.  With all this having been said and done, now the only question that remains is how fast will Ryan run.
