2017 Cross Country MileSplit Utah Girls All-State Team Honors

2ND TEAM

- - -

1. Bailey Brinkerhoff,  Desert Hills,  Junior

Bailey to some is a little bit of an unknown due to the fact that she is located all the way down in St. George.  So she is used to hanging around in that area and racing local competition.  Brinkerhoff had a big season nonetheless as she finished 3rd in the 4A State Finals, 9th at NXR-SW, and 24th at FL West. She had two major wins this season and ran a 16:36 for a 3 mile down at the Woodbridge Classic in CA.

2. Heidi Sumsion,  Springville,  Freshman

Heidi Sumsion probably had the best freshman season despite finishing behind Eliza Arrington.  Sumsion ran with the lead packs every time she raced.  She had an average placing of 8th and finished 2nd in the 5A State Final on the heels of the winner Karli Branch.  Sumsion went on to place 17th at NXR-SW to end off her season rather then making another attempt at Footlocker.  Heidi does own the best performance by a Freshman at State with her time of 18:07.80.

3. Jessica Hill,  Pine View,  Sophomore

Jessica Hill like Bailey is from the South so these two are probably quite familiar with each other.  As for the rest of the State, Jessica did travel with her team up north more frequently.  Hill had a great showing finishing 8th at Murray over the likes of Alissa Fielding and Eliza Arrington, and Bob Firman where she finished 27th.  Jessica continued by finishing 5th in the 4A State Division and finished as high as 13th at NXR-SW.

4. Lexi Wright,  American Fork,  Senior

Lexi Wright had one of the more solid and consistent seasons of these girls.  She finished no lower then 16th which she was 16th at NXR-SW and also ran a new PR of 17:54.00 there for the 5K.  Lexi had a total of 3 wins this season including her Pre Regionals and Regionals, along with the UHSTCA Invite which was held on her home course.  Wright had a PR in every single one of her XC events, what better way to end a high school career then that.

5. Kalii Caldwell,  Ogden,  Junior

Kalii again like Lexi was someone who had a good consistent season.  Her only win came at her Regionals where she ran a new PR of 17:25.20 for 3 miles.  Caldwell went on to place 22nd at NXR-SW and 18th at Footlocker West.  Expect Kalii to continue improving and dropping her times in a quest for her first National appearance.

6. Reagan Gardner,  Lone Peak,  Freshman

Raegan Gardner,  the second from her team to make an All-State Team and the third of her class.  Gardner like teammate Arrington had a great Freshman season and managed to throw down some impressive XC times.  These two freshman will hope to lead the Lone Peak girls team to NXN as they finished 4th overall in the race.  An interesting fact about Gardner's stat line is that her 5k PR of 18:04 is faster then her 3mile PR of 18:07, how about that.

7. Kennedy Powell,  Union,  Junior

Kennedy rounds out the 2ND All-State Team with her amazing performance from NXR-SW finishing in 28th overall and giving herself a new PR of 18:05 for the 5K.  Kennedy grabbed a grand total of 4 wins this season including her second ever XC State Title.
