Buckeye Valley Senior Zach Kreft Commits to Notre Dame

The nation's leading runner at the 5K distance, Buckeye Valley (OH) senior Zach Kreft, has finalized his commitment to the University of Notre Dame.

Kreft will join a Fighting Irish program helmed by Sean Carlson, who joined the Fighting Irish in 2011 and works specifically with the men's program.

Kreft's biggest highlights in cross country have come in 2017, as he's logged the country's fastest time at 5K with a 14:29.95 at the Midwest Meet of Champions in September. The returning Division 2 champion in Ohio also has logged four times under 15:10 and has won seven of eight races.

On the track, Kreft has posted superb efforts of 4:10.10/9:21.34 in the 1600m and 3200m, with the former netting him a fourth-place bid at the Ohio High School Athletic Association championships in June.

Kreft has netted a top 800m time of 1:57.98 as well.
