Chad Johnson Donates $2K To Get Youth Track Team To Nationals

Chad Johnson is a track guy at heart.

On Tuesday, the former NFL wide receiver made a tremendous impact on a youth track and field team from Baltimore, Maryland, donating $2,200 to help the Turbo Track Club reach the USATF Junior Olympic Championships in Lawrence, Kansas.

The club, which started a GoFundMe page with an original goal of $4,000 to help the club reach its destination, put a plea out for the community to help support girls.

TURBO TRACK CLUB IS HEADED TO NATIONAL JR OLYMPICS IN KANSAS CITY! These four amazing girls just took Regionals by storm in Greensboro N.C. & now they are ready to do the same in Kansas City! But as you may know traveling can be a little bit expensive so we need help from our community to get these girls there. If you can donate anything to help reach their goal it will be greatly appreciated!

Johnson, whose young daughter Chai'el is ranked No. 1 in the nation for 12-year-olds in the 800m, saw a post on Twitter and responded, helping the club reach the goal in just a matter of hours. Eighty people have donated in a day.

An estimated 10,000 athletes are expected to travel to the Lawrence, Kansas, for the seven-day championship event held at the University of Kansas' Rock Chalk Park.
