Montana 14-Year-Old Freshman TreDarius Tintinger Clears 6-11 High Jump

This weekend, Helena (MT) High freshman TreDarius 'Tre' Tintinger cleared 6 feet, 11 inches at a tri-meet at Great Falls CM Russell High in Montana. 

The meet wasn't sanctioned by the USATF, so the effort, which would have set a world age class world record and an American high school record by a 14-year-old, becomes moot. 

Tintinger did, however, set a stadium record and eclipsed Helena's 31-year-old school record of 6-10.50, which was accomplished by Brian Schweyen in 1986. 

Tintinger's effort, which was cleared on his third attempt and 'measured with a steel tape measure,' per the Helena Independent Record, would have broken a 21-year-old record held by Jamaicain Cristoff Bryan in 1996 in Montego Bay. 

The American age class record, however, was set in 1985 by Russell White of Chatsworth Lawrence (Ca.) High with a height of 6-8.5. 

A year ago, Tintinger won a national title in the 14-15 age class at the USATF Junior Olympics with a height of 6-6.75.

Tintinger turns 15 on June 22, which gives him ample opportunity to compete for a national title and a potential world age class record in the next few weeks.
