Hello PR! Provo Senior Kate Hunter Smashes 800m at Simplot

Finding top form during the indoor season can sometimes be difficult, but Provo High senior and Brigham Young University signee Kate Hunter seems to have found the very essence of it.

She smashed her previous best in the 800m on Saturday at Simplot Games in Pocatello, Idaho, running a US #4 time of 2:10.75 to take the field at the premier indoor event.

Hunter conserved energy in the preliminaries in previous days, running a 2:17.83, and also was off another stellar performance on Feb. 4 at the New Balance Boise Indoor meet, when she ran a time of 2:13.89.

She said goodbye to her former PR of 2:13.38 in June of last year at the Great Southwest Classic, however, with one booming race by taking the field by two seconds. She held off Hannah Freeman (2:12.39) and Erin Valgardson (2:14.95).

In January, Hunter also run sub-5 in the 1600m for the first time, converting on a time of 4:59.08 at the UHSTCA Invitational. Hunter's younger sister, Meghan, finished fourth in the 400m as well
