Skyridge Cross Country Training Journal: Collin Morrison

Weekly training blog with Skyridge's Collin Morrison.

8/15: Monday- 1 mile open water swim at lake powell, haha open water is quite a bit harder than lap swimming.

8/16: Tuesday- 2 miles, I was planning on 6 but my achilles was hurting pretty bad...

8/17: Wednesday- 2 more miles, still really painful. I went to a sports chiropractor and he did Graston on it (scraping) and that was excruciating... but it helped a little, hopefully I can race tomorrow

8/18: Thursday- long story short it hurt to walk so I didn't race. I'm too bruised from yesterday. Also 4 of our top 5 (including me) didn't race for various reasons, thus the 8th place finish. I went home and did a pretty hard swim workout. 500 WU, then freestyle, decreasing the breaths I take by one stroke every 50 yds until I couldn't anymore, then work my way back to breathing by one stroke every 50 yds until I get back to where I started. I did that twice, then 3x200 kick. 350 cooldown.

8/19: Friday- Another pool workout. I'm going back to the sports chiropractor on Monday for him to finish working on my calf/achilles, it should be a one time fix type of thing, so I should be able to race fine on Saturday. Workout: 350 WU, 10x100yds, aquajogging the odds and swimming the evens. I averaged about 1:25 for the swimming parts, haha except for the last one because my foot cramped up in the middle. 350 cooldown.

8/20: Saturday- I forgot to set an alarm, so I was late to the pool, but I still got a little bit of a workout in before work. I did 5x50yd, swimming the shallow and jogging the deep, then 5x100yd kick. Then 250 cooldown.

8/21: Sunday- rest
