Weekend Preview: American Fork Grass Relays and Utah County Invitational

Most of the action for this weekend will be coming from two meets in Utah County. American Fork High School will play host to the grass relays on Saturday morning, and Timpanogos High School will host the Utah County Invitational.

The American Fork Grass Relays is a one of a kind meet. The race is held on a one mile grass loop that is covered in hay bales as obstacles, which make it a true cross-country type course, mixed with a track feel as it is a relay event. Each athlete runs 2 laps around the one mile loop. There is a team title, as well as awards given to the athletes who run the fastest relay legs. It is the first chance we get to really see what type of shape American Forks team is in, as they are one of the favorites in both the girls and boys sides of things.

The course records for the grass relays are 9:41 set by Luke Puskedra of Judge Memorial in 2007, and 11:41 set by Heidi McGill of Mountain View.
