Utah Athletes bring home gold from Arcadia: Girls Meet Recap

It was another successful trip to Arcadia for the girls of Utah. Winning countless heats and a few overall events, the girls really proved that they can run with the best of any state. None of the Utah athletes impressed more than Shay Martinez. She won both the 1600m and the 800m and led her fellow Utahns  to a great weekend.

Probably the athlete that shocked the most at the meet was Ali Walker of Park City. Though we know Ali is a very talented runner, her time in the 3200 was a bit better than even we expected. She placed 2nd in the 3200 and also ran an impressive 1600 the next day. Both times for Ali are Park City school records. Girls 1600m- Shea Martinez won the invitational heat of the girls 1600m over a pack dominated by Utah athletes. Her time of 4:50 is the best time by a Utah athlete this year. It is also the 6th fastest time in Arcadia history. With this weekend Shea has solidified herself as one of the very best in the history of Utah. 

in the event, Sarah Feeny of Ogden was 3rd at 4:56. Emily Rich of Bingham, Ellie Child of Davis, and Summer Harper of Orem were 4th 5th and 6th respectively.

Taylor Cox of Davis won the seeded 1600 in 4:56. Her time was fast enough to place her 3rd in the invitational heat. Ali walker was 6th at 5:01.  Alyssa Snyder ran 5:05

 

Girls 400m- Lauren Baxter was 2nd overall in the 400m with a phenomenal time of 55.28. Aimee Bryson of cedar was with in her heat with a 58.82

 

Girls 800m- Shea Martinez continued her very impressive senior season by doubling in the 1600 and 800 and winning both. In the 800m she ran 2:09.26

 

Girls 3200m- Ali Walker and Alyssa Snyder of Park City make a pretty impressive duo for the Miners. Ali was 2nd in a very impressive 10:41. Alyssa was 4th in 10:47. Sarah Feeny of Ogden came in with a time of 10:52. Jacky Heaps of Leah was 6th in the rated heat with a time of 10:58 just ahead of Maddy Criscione of Park City. Summer harper was 11:05. There was a large number of Utah athletes in this event. 

 

Girls 100h- Nicole Laws of Provo posted the top time for a Utah athlete at 15.17. her season best is 15.04. Christine Van Brocklin of Davis came in at 15.91

 

Girls 300m- Kaitlin Walker of Wasatch posted the top Utah time of 45.68. Alisa Baker posted a 46.69 and Christine Van Brocklin ran 47.29.

 

Girls High Jump- Sophomore Britten Duerden of Morgan Utah cleared 5’4. Marissa Appiah of Woods Cross She cleared 5’3

 

Girls Long Jump- Kayla Shakespeare of Cedar was 9th in the long jump with a leap of 15’4

 

Girls Shot Put- Kassie Nagel of Morgan won her heat of the shotput with a trhow of 41’8. She came back to place 3rd in her heat of the Discus  with a best throw of 128’8

 

Relays

Girls 4x100- Cedar High School posted a 50.39 in the event placing 7th in their heat.

4x200m- Davis was 5th in their heat with a time of 1:48.61

4x400m- Davis Girls were 7th in the seeded 4x400 with a  time of 3:59

4x100- Shuttle Hurdles Davis Girls Placed 2nd in the Event.
